About Me
Hello!! My name is Greg Lindsey, and I am honored and excited to be beginning my 17th year as an English teacher at CPMA! I am a native New Yorker and moved to San Diego after earning my degree from Colgate University, where I double-majored in English (with an emphasis in Creative Writing) and Native American Studies. CPMA is the perfect place for me because I love working with children, I am a huge fan of the arts, and because my mission is to encourage students to become lifelong lovers of reading and writing.
In my free time you can find me on the tennis courts because I am an avid player and huge fan of the sport, or I might be on dog beach in Ocean Beach with my thirteen year old Chiweenie, Ajah. I love movies and I am passionate about reading, and am currently doing a reread of The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan in anticipation of the final book in that series after 23 years! I also am a huge fan of George RR Martin (A Game of Thrones), Philip Pullman, JRR Tolkien, Margaret Atwood, Ray Bradbury, and Suzanne Collins. Last summer I travelled to New Zealand and had one of the most amazing adventures ever; this picture of me is actually me coming out of a hobit-hole on the set of the Shire from "The Hobbit" and "The Lord Of The Rings"! I strongly feel that we have one of the most outstanding departments in the district and that we can meet the diverse needs of any student at our school. The members of my department are extremely caring and supportive and will share all of their expertise with their students as we delve into our major units of study, including Narrative Writing, Argument Writing, and Responding to Literature. I am so lucky to be at CPMA and I look forward to a tremendous year of both teaching and learning as I help to prepare your child for the next couple of years in middle school, high school, and life beyond.
